How to Save and Find Draft Tweets on X (Twitter)

Start composing a post on X, then close the compose box without posting, and X saves it automatically to your drafts folder. To find draft tweets again, tap the compose icon, then look for the drafts option, usually accessible from the compose screen itself, where every unsent post you have started is listed.
Where X stores your drafts
Twitter draft posts are saved locally to your device rather than to the cloud, similar to a note kept only on the device you wrote it on. That local storage keeps drafting fast and offline-friendly, but it also means the drafts folder was historically tied to a single device.
The recent change to draft syncing
X has rolled out syncing between the mobile app and the web version, so a draft you start on your phone can now show up when you log in on the web, and vice versa. That sync is not flawless for every situation, particularly longer threads with several media attachments, so treat sync as a convenience rather than a guarantee for complex drafts.
What happens if you delete the app
If you delete the X app or clear its app data, any locally stored drafts that had not synced are lost for good. Before removing the app from a device, either publish anything sitting in drafts or copy the text somewhere else as a backup, especially for longer or more complex posts that may not have synced cleanly.
A more dependable option for planned posts
For posts you know you want to publish on a specific date, skip the native drafts folder and build them out in a Twitter scheduler instead, where the post is saved to your account and tied to an actual publish time rather than sitting in a folder that depends on your device staying untouched. Posted Once keeps your X drafts and scheduled posts together with your other platforms in one dashboard. Create a free account to get started.
