How to Schedule a Facebook Reel in 2026

Meta Business Suite is the native way to schedule facebook reels in advance, and it works from either the desktop site or the mobile app. On desktop, open Business Suite, click Content or Planner, select "Create reel," upload your video and add a caption and thumbnail, then click Schedule and pick your date and time.

Scheduling a Facebook Reel step by step

On mobile, open the Meta Business Suite app, tap the plus icon, choose Create, then select Reel. After uploading and editing, tap Next and choose "Schedule for later," then set your date and time. Either way, you can choose to publish the Reel to your Facebook Page alone, or to both Facebook and Instagram at once if your accounts are connected.

The advance scheduling window

Business Suite currently allows Reels to be scheduled roughly 29 days out. If you need to plan Reels further ahead than that, a third-party scheduling tool that supports Reels can hold your content and queue it once it falls inside that native window, which is where a broader scheduler earns its keep for long-range content planning.

Format requirements to check before you upload

Facebook Reels need to run between 5 seconds and 1 minute 30 seconds, in MP4 or MOV format, with a file size under 500MB. Uploading something outside those specs will get flagged before you can schedule it, so trim and export with those limits in mind rather than finding out after you've already built the post.

Where scheduling silently falls back to a reminder

If a Reel fails Meta's automated review at the scheduled time, for example due to a copyright match on background music, it will not publish and instead often falls back to sitting as an unpublished draft or reminder rather than notifying you clearly that it failed. Check your Planner shortly after a Reel's scheduled time the first few times you use this feature, just to confirm it actually went live.

Making Reels scheduling part of a bigger routine

Once you have a batch of Reels ready, queue them alongside your regular Facebook posts and other platforms with a Facebook scheduler so Reels are not the one format you always have to handle manually.
