In practice, most creators pick between three shapes: 16:9 landscape, 1:1 square, or 9:16 vertical, depending on how the content was originally shot.

The recommended format: 1280x720 or 1920x1080

For standard landscape video, 1280x720 (720p) keeps file sizes reasonable while still looking sharp in the timeline, and 1920x1080 (1080p) is the higher quality option at the same 16:9 ratio if file size is not a concern. Picking a shape based on where the video was shot

If a video already exists from another platform, matching its native shape usually beats re-editing it into X's recommended 16:9.
