The 3,000-character limit and the "see more" fold
A LinkedIn post can be up to 3,000 characters, but only about the first 210 characters show in the feed before LinkedIn cuts the post off with a "see more" link. This counter marks that fold on the progress bar, so you can see exactly where your text gets hidden. On mobile the cutoff can be closer to 140 characters, so treat 210 as the generous end of the range.
Write for the fold
Because most people never tap "see more", your opening line does the heavy lifting. Lead with the hook, a bold claim or a question inside the first 210 characters, then add a blank line before the rest so the preview looks clean. LinkedIn does not offer bold or italic formatting, so if you want emphasis in that crucial opener, generate styled Unicode text and paste it in.
